Privacy
The short version: RIDD collects nothing. Your photos and videos never leave your device.
Your photo library
RIDD asks for access to your Photos library so it can find copies, lookalike shots, extra video takes and large files. iOS, iPadOS and macOS ask your permission first, and you can change it at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos. RIDD reads small copies of your pictures and video frames on your device to compare them. Nothing is uploaded — not your photos, not your videos, not the results.
Deleting
RIDD only deletes when you tap RIDD on a batch, and Apple then asks you to confirm. Deleted photos and videos go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days, where you can still recover them.
Folders and drives (Mac)
On a Mac, RIDD can check folders and drives that you pick for duplicate files. It reads only the folders you choose, on your Mac, and moves copies you confirm to the Trash. Nothing is uploaded.
Search
When you type a search like “screenshots older than 6 months”, RIDD reads it on your device. On devices with Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model may help read the words. Your search never leaves the device.
What stays on your device
RIDD keeps a small amount of data in its own storage on your device: the batch log (how many items and how much space each batch freed), your keep-forever list, and measurements of your pictures so the next scan is faster. None of it is sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Purchases
RIDD is free to use, and the first 150 items you clear are free. The one-time $0.99 RIDD Unlimited purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details. The app only asks the App Store, on your device, whether the purchase was made.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect personal information, photos, videos, usage data, diagnostics, contacts, location, identifiers or anything else, and there are no third-party SDKs, ad networks or analytics in the app. On the App Store this is listed as Data Not Collected.
If you email us
If you write to support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to answer you, and we do not share it or add you to any list.
This website
This site has no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Its fonts are served from this site.
Children
RIDD does not collect information from anyone, including children.
